Identifying and Preparing Alternative-Entrant Teachers
for Careers as High Quality Mathematics and Science Educators


1. Identify and assist college graduates in careers other than education to become high quality science and mathematics teachers.

2.
Encourage and assist college students in programs other than education to consider careers in teaching mathematics or science.

3.
Facilitate the transition to teaching for alternative entrants by providing content-specific mentors, professional development, and assistance with completing the alternative certification process.

4. Promote and support the Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Science and Mathematics programs which are specifically designed for career change teachers with non-education degrees.

MOSTI (Marketing Science Teachers and Induction) is a collaboration of three partners: The Coalition for Science Literacy at USF, MOSI, and the School District of Hillsborough County. The goal of the partnership is to increase the number of quality teachers of Science in the School District of Hillsborough County.
